A special session of the General Conference of the United Methodist Church has been called by the Council of Bishops. It will be held February 23-26, 2019 in St. Louis, Missouri. Its purpose is to act on a report from the Commission on a Way Forward which was created and tasked with examining the Book of Discipline regarding human sexuality and exploring ways to strengthen church unity. In light of the significance of this conference, our church is holding a 24 hour prayer vigil beginning Friday, February 22 at 8:00 AM and running through 8:00 AM on Saturday, February 23. We invite everyone of faith who is concerned to participate.
Don’t worry if someone else has a time you would like as we can never have too much prayer. Please prayerfully consider signing up for the hours at night and set your alarm. You may come by the church during regular hours on Friday to use the prayer room, chapel, or sanctuary. After hours, pray wherever you are. While praying by yourself is effective, why not consider signing up for an hour and inviting fellow church members to join you at your home, a coffee shop, or on the golf course?
This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 1 John 5:14 NIV
