Our Stories Volume 5

When we got married and moved to Spartanburg, we soon started searching for a church home. We were not really sure what we were looking for, but visited several churches in town. None of them felt quite right. Many churches were using a contemporary style service as their only option for worship and we decided that we preferred a more traditional format. When we visited Bethel, we immediately fell in love with the traditional service. We appreciated singing out of the hymnal with the beautiful organ accompaniment. We immediately felt at home from the first visit!

Our favorite thing about Bethel are the in house ministries (children’s, youth, music, and small group ministries). These provide such blessings to the young people of our church and aid us in developing new disciples! Even before we had children of our own, we saw how important the children and youth programs were in the life of the church. Our appreciation for these ministries has grown even more as our children have been involved and grown in their love and understanding of God as a result of their participation.

A little over ten years ago, we were blessed with the opportunity to take a Financial Peace University Class at Bethel that was led by Blair Mathis. Learning the biblical teachings of Dave Ramsey regarding how to manage personal finances continues to bless us today! One of the cornerstones of his teaching is that the most fun a person can have with money is being generous – and we could not agree more! This is why we faithfully (and joyously) tithe to Bethel. We hope that our contributions will help Bethel to continue the ministries that we hold dear and provide opportunities for future disciples to grow in Christ!
